Presence
Project: Presence
Presence was created during a three-week artist-in-residence program in rural Portugal. The work emerged as a response to my experience of newness, uncertainty, and loneliness within an unfamiliar environment.
I created a series of painting-object installations that introduced an organic, human presence into the landscape. Rather than preserving the work, I left it behind to naturally deteriorate—allowing it to dissolve into the surroundings over time.
This act mirrored my own temporary existence in that place: a brief imprint, gradually fading, becoming part of the environment, and eventually disappearing.
